Dune Prophecy: The Complete First Season opens the door to the wonders of sci-fi adventure on home video this week. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment flew us a copy of the six-episode series to review here on That Hashtag Show. On May 13, fans can venture back to the world of Dune to experience a first in this franchise’s long history. 

There’s no question that Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune has become a pop culture force. Both parts of his cinematic epic registered memes and massive box office over the last few years. Dune Prophecy: The Complete First Season widens the offerings on-hand from Legendary Television and Warner Bros. Discovery. The Bene Gesserit will only play a bigger part in the next Dune installment. This series adds another entry point for folks that haven’t consumed every piece of media that Frank Herbert ever released.

Viewers who only really got into Dune because of the two most recent films are going to really enjoy Dune Prophecy: The Complete First Season. The release takes viewers further into the world that Herbert created and tells a story that will enrich the plot of these movies as they continue forward. Remember, HBO believed in Dune Prophecy so much that they aired it at the same vaunted Sunday slot as other prestige offerings. Reviews indicate that the series belonged there too. There’s just a level of craft that you have to marvel at when it comes to Dune Prophecy. Getting to dissect it on your own terms is a must for longtime fans. But, also a bonus for anyone just getting into the swing of the series as well.
